The Minamata Convention on Mercury.

The main objective of the Minamata Convention is to phase out the use of mercury in industrial processes and products as well as to control mercury emissions into the atmosphere.

Parties that have ratified the Minamata Convention are committed to taking action to eliminate mercury from its use in both everyday products and industries (e.g. chlor-alkali units or mines).

A list of mercury-added products and another of industry types are mentioned in the official text giving dates after which the manufacture, import or export of the product will be banned. Some industries have also been set deadlines for changing their production process.
