BATREC stabilises metalic mercury (Hg) to mercury sulfide (HgS) for permanent disposal in a salt mine. The processis carried out using a stabilising solution in which the liquid mercury is mixed. Cinnabar is the safe, most stable, and least soluble form of mercury.

We talked about mercury in its liquid form but BATREC also treats contaminated absorbents. Mercury absorbents, sometimes called catalysts, are used in chemical and petrochemical processes to purify or recycle gases. BATREC offers its recycling services to be able to return them into the industrial cycle.
